Ms Hodgkinson came to the Shed last Friday to cut the ribbon that officially launched the containers, which will be used to extend the capabilities and options for activity at the Men's Shed. The containers will improve safety for the Shed's members (almost up to 100 now), by providing significantly more space to undertake the various activities both on offer and planned.
The Shed provided morning tea for the Minister, her Chief of Staff and also for the Mayor of the Yass Valley, Rowena Abbey (who is also a co-Patron of the Shed). In addition around 30 of the Shed's members were there to enjoy the occasion.
Ms Hodgkinson was very gracious and generous in her remarks, saying that she was a great supporter of the Yass Shed and other Sheds in her electorate and is firmly convinced that a modest investment by Government results in much greater returns to the community in terms of health, volunteering in the community and social cohesion.
President of the Yass Valley Men's Shed, David Staines, offered the sincere gratitude of the Shed and its membership both to the Minister and her Government, and also to the Mayor and the Yass Valley Council for their respective roles in making the acquisition, approvals and installation of these containers possible and trouble free.
