Featuring cars from the early 1900s through to the 70s, fashion through the years, our favourite music from the 50s, 60s and 70s, plus the Billycart Derby, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this free event.
The theme is Vintage, whether it’s donning the simple elegant designs of the 50s, true vintage designs from the roaring 20s, the outrageous looks from the 60s or the glamour of the 40s, Classic Yass will have it all.
Organisers are encouraging people to get their photo taken in front of their favourite classic car, join in the fashion parade or just dress up and join in the show.
There will be displays and sales of vintage fashion as well as the main lunchtime Fashion Parade in the CWA Hall and around the main music stage area in Banjo Paterson Park.
Billycart derbies are springing up all over the country – but the Yass Rotary Billycart Derby has established an enviable reputation and has grown to be accepted as a premier event in carting circles.
As part of the 2013 Classic Yass spectacular, there were around 70 carts entered in by over 80 drivers in almost 100 events, competing for over $2,000 in prize money and trophies.
The carting trail has already started for this year, with a couple of Yass carts competing at Bowral in their second Tulip Festival carting competition. Thomas The Tank Engine with Dominic Owen at the controls was popular with the little ones, and Ashleigh Owen, driving the Blaze Aid Flyer recorded equal best time in her age group.
Tomorrow will once again see about 1000 hay bales used to create a race track in Rossi Street, in anticipation of another record field for a day of hot competition and family fun.
Yass Rotary will provide $2000 in prize money and trophies, with 10 categories being contested, including age groups, ladies, seniors, corporate and novelty events. Entries will be accepted on the day.
