Despite a shortened advertising campaign, the Yass Rodeo still managed to improve on last year's attendance.

President Garry Scanes told the Tribune, the Yass Rodeo only advertised for two weeks prior to the event but attracted more than 1500 spectators to the Yass Showground.
"We didn't want to coincide with the Murrumbateman rodeo so it was pretty bad timing because it's hard to build it up in two weeks," he said.
"So we'll have to look at that next year but the crowd was still up on last year which was good."
Scanes also said the weather was ideal, there were no injuries and the competition was tough, with strong performances from our local entrants.
"There were no novice bulls ridden and only two in the open class, because the bulls were too good for the riders."
Notable results from our Yass Valley locals included Wayne and Clint Slater taking out the team roping event; Michelle Bush winning the novice barrel racing; Chris Williams claiming victory in the saddle bronc and Corey Miles coming second in the steer wrestling. Other winners included Matthew Pfingst (bull ride); Scott Fitzpatrick (steer wrestling); Blake Pine (bareback); and Nicole Fitzpatrick (ladies barrel racing).
