This Friday the Interact Club of Yass is holding an international-themed Trivia Night to raise funds for our international project. Interact Clubs are service clubs for youth aged 12-18 years and are sponsored by and mentored by Rotary. Interactors conduct community and international service projects with the intent of making a real difference, learning about others and promoting goodwill between nations. The Interact Club of Yass was formed a year ago and has been active in the local community, assisting with running the jumping castle at the Farmers Markets and raising funds towards Can Assist and to purchasing a shelter box.

Our club’s chosen international project for 2015 is to provide clean and safe drinking water and improving education opportunities for school students in Gumine Village, a small regional village in the Papua New Guinea Highlands. We are aiming on raising sufficient funds to purchase water tanks to be fitted to the schoolhouse and teacher’s residence, with the ultimate aim of the Club travelling to Gumine to assist with local construction projects as well as installing donated computers within the school, and teaching the students to use the computers and software.
The Trivia Night will be held at the Yass Memorial Hall this Friday from 6:30 to 10pm. Trivia starts at 7pm.
A variety of gift vouchers and items have been very kindly donated by local generous businesses and companies as prizes and for raffles on the night. There is also a sausage sizzle, and tasty snacks and drinks will be there for purchase. A lucky door prize and games will be running on the night, so make sure to book a table! Tables can have up to eight people, with tickets only $10 a head so make sure to grab your friends and family this Friday for a fun night and help raise funds for a great cause.
