Yass Valley Council recently performed a survey and received an overwhelming response from those interested in using this type of service. A location next to Walker Park was voted as the most suitable, with just under 50 percent of participants in support of it.
Director of Planning and Environmental Services Chris Berry said it was a service that a lot of people wanted.
“We got an enormous response,” he said.
“Clearly the survey response favoured Walker Park (so) my suggestion is that if you are looking for a central area, have a look at the site so we can get on with the project.”
While Councillor Gary Ware said he didn’t like the Walker Park location, Mayor Rowena Abbey said she wanted to make a decision “and get on with it”.
Council resolved to select a central area for the establishment of a fenced off-leash area and that councillors Jones and McManus, and Chris Berry make a decision and report back to council.
