Yass was going into the clash very wary of the Boomanulla team, with the Raiders putting on a show in the second half of the team’s previous encounter nearly coming back and beating the Magpies.
Yass got off to a flyer with a try early on but they couldn’t capitalise further, with the Raiders striking straight back with an unconverted try. The first half was a drop-the-ball-athon, with a large number of mistakes from both teams. Yass was playing far from its best rugby league but was still managing to hold Boomanulla out.
Marc Curtis and Nick Pollack were the other try scorers for the half, with Curtis receiving a good offload to crash over and Pollack running 60 metres showing outstanding speed to score.
The second half continued like the first, with plenty of mistakes, until Yass got their act together and ran away with the game. The score finished up Yass 44 defeated Boomanulla 4.
The Yass Magpies and Girlpies play Crookwell in Crookwell this Sunday. Hopefully the Weather Gods produce a good day for footy. Both the men’s and women’s teams are poised for finals positions, but need to keep training hard if they want to have a chance come finals time.
