Vine Community FoodCare opened on May 7 this year to provide low income families and individuals in the Yass Valley with access to weekly affordable groceries. Word has spread fast and there are over 135 people registered with the programme, ranging from 17 to 81-years-old and located from Murrumbateman to Boorowa. It operates every Thursday from 10am–12.30pm and is located at 66 Lead Street, Yass. Anyone with a Centrelink benefit card is able to register at Community FoodCare for just $2 per financial year. Hampers start at $8 and members can self-select from a range of staple foods, cereals, pasta and personal items.
It is operated locally by the Yass Vine Church by a growing team of volunteers including church members, local residents and FoodCare clients. With a local charity supporting such a diverse range of people in our local community, the YCTC thought it would be an excellent charity to support. We hope that our donation will assist with the purchase of a fridge or freezer to allow members access to refrigerated and/or frozen items.
The Yass Clay Target Club would like to acknowledge our sponsors for the day. Michael and Kay Hunt from ‘Hunt’s Shooting Supplies’ donated all of the prizes. Ian Crisp donated the winners Sash, which was beautifully crafted and envied by all who saw it! Without the generosity of our sponsors, we would not have raised such a substantial amount. We would also like to thank the Bookham Red Cross for providing our shooters with another delicious lunch.
Our next competition will be held on Sunday October 18 at 10am at Stoney Creek. This will be a 50 T double barrel, 25 T handicap and 25 T single barrel.
Hope to see you all there.
Living the dream!
