The Australian Scout Medallion, the highest award a Scout can achieve in Australia, was presented to Braeden Adams by Mr Ian Petty, Regional Commissioner for Scouts in the Riverina. Braeden has worked hard for four years to get this award through leadership, team building, camping and organising a three day hike for the Scout troop along the Hume And Hovell Walking Track. Braeden has been a driving force to help build the Yass Scout troop and has set a great example for his peers.
James Gray was awarded The Grey Wolf Badge, the highest award a Cub Scout can achieve in Australia, presented by Mrs Alice 'Bub' Johnstone, Regional Commissioner for Cub Scouts in the Riverina. It has taken James two years to get this achievement which has included being part of their pack council, camping and high level badgework and also running a day hike for his Cub pack. James is now in the process of moving into the Scouts and is looking forward to the challenge.
The night was a great success with many other awards handed out including the Joey Scout Environment badge, which takes six months to achieve, Bronze and Silver Boomerangs to the Cub Scouts and Adventurer Cord and Patrol badges to the Scouts.
They were attended by the Regional Scouting Commissioners, parents, grandparents, families, friends and Councillor Geoff Frost.
