The match opened badly with Tuggeranong scoring in the first minute for 4-0. In spite of concerted efforts by Bron Pollack and Renee Sparnon, the Bushrangers were in again five minutes later for 8-0.
Bron Pollack made a neat line break for Yass but Tuggeranong went in again for 12-0.
Amber Carney was excellent in defence and Farah Attalah supported and eventually Farah crossed for 12-4. Jess Howard injected herself into the play and made a good line break but the Bushrangers scored again for 18-4.
A few misdirected passes let the girls down at critical times.
Down 18-4 at half time, the Yass squad went back to work and made good progress through Bron Pollack and Liana Wylie until Pollock made a line break and went down with a knee injury nine minutes into the second half.
In the meantime, Tuggeranong had scored again. In spite of the injury to Bron, the girls attacked again in good field position and Marnie Pack forced her way over after nine minutes and it was 22-8.
As time wound down, the Bushrangers crossed again for 26-8 but the Girlpies did not give up and pressed the opposition line until Liana Wylie crossed with just two minutes to go and the game finished at 26-12. Carney, Attalah, Wylie and Sparnon were all good but the girls met with a superior opponent on the day.
