The Men's Yass Redbacks division three team dominated play against Canberra City in the windy conditions in Canberra but ultimately lost 1–0 in the knockout semi-final match.

The Redbacks had many scoring opportunities, including a controversial offside call and an off-the-ball foul that disallowed a goal by Brad Nielson.
Brett Darmody was also brought down from behind in the box while chasing a bouncing ball, only to have shouts for a penalty brushed aside.
Canberra’s goal came after a fly ball sailed through goalkeeper Rex Stacey’s outstretched arms.
“1-0 to Canberra City at halftime was a bitter pill to swallow when we had been the better side,” said coach John Mannweiler.
“I can take nothing away from the lads, they played in really difficult conditions and never gave up even after going down,” he said.
In the closing stages of the game, Nielson dazzled passed four opposing defenders and almost grabbed the equaliser.
Manager Grant Taylor said the Redbacks was the better team on the night.
“The game ended as it can sometimes in football—with the better side losing.
The Yass Lady Redbacks sides will play their semifinals this Sunday.
Division 3 plays on Nicholls Synthetic at 12.00 pm.
Division 4 plays on the ANU Willows at 5.00 pm.
