Another bleak morning, hopefully it is fog or something because it sure would be nice to see the sun for a few hours. Not much rain last week but it is still very wet. Try to pull a weed out and you get half a bucket of soil with it. That's my excuse anyway.

How frustrating these wonderful computers can be. I tried over and over to enter my password which was declared invalid every time. So say a few words, turn it off, give it a couple of minutes and do exactly the same and lo! It works! We are frequently being urged to "jump on the net" and there are times I could jump on the whole damned thing. Obviously I was born too early to understand so much technology - and no kids around to help.
Five local golfers made the trip to Grenfell and Forbes at the weekend to make their presence felt at the inaugural sand/grass greens championships. I was told there were about 100 entries, about 40 of them lady golfers. (I always maintained there is no such thing as a lady golfer; lady-like behaviour usually flies down the fairway after a few bad shots). Joe Dyball was the star of the local contingent with two good rounds winning him the two day stableford event. Great golf Joe. He was the only winner from our club but apparently they all had a great weekend, despite getting a little damp. That's golf isn't it?
At home a handful of starters played for a club trophy and the winner was the long odds player, Brian Queripel. Brian is better known as a bowler but maybe the win will stir up some enthusiasm for the better game. Do I have an argument after that statement?
Next weekend is the men's annual tournament and the locals are hoping that their attendance at some of the other club's events will persuade members of surrounding clubs to participate, as they did in days gone by. Saturday's event is a mixed/medley two person Ambrose and on Sunday the men will play and individual 18 holes for various trophies.

"I haven't picked up a club since last week. I've got this blister and walk like a freak. I tweaked my neck and my swing's up the creek. That's why I'm playing like a drain." We have all heard them and used them, haven't we?.
The bowling green continues to be maintained but no-one plays. Maybe when the weather improves, perhaps.
In the school bulletin congratulations go to Thomasina, Ben, Ivy and Jack T whose artworks have been chosen to be displayed in the Armory Gallery Sydney Olympic Park. The opening of the exhibition is on September 10. Footsteps Dance continues, learning songs for the MHS CAPA night continues with Mrs Winterflood and they are all working hard on their maths and literacy projects. Their next soccer game is next Monday at the Murrumburrah oval.
