Rowena Abbey has served the Yass Valley as its Mayor for the past four years. She has seen enormous progress in this time and wants to continue the positive momentum, which is why she is leading a group of successful business people for Yass Council 2016.

Group E consists of Rowena Abbey, Alison Hodgkinson-Harker, Cyril Cox, Duncan Bremner and Duncan Waugh.
Alison grew up in the Yass Valley and spent 15 years of her career in financial services and is now part of an agricultural business. She is an active community member, helping school and sporting groups and is passionate about promoting small business.
Cyril and his family have lived in the Yass Valley for the past 15 years. He purchased the historic Mayfield House in Bowning on retirement and opened Mayfield Mews Home and garden centre in Bowning in 2014. Cyril is passionate about maintaining heritage, particularly in the villages.
Duncan Bremner is an accomplished CEO and Board Director, established in the fields of agribusiness, regional development, logistics, and trade. He brings strong experience in leadership, innovation, advocacy, and governance.
Local artist and painter Duncan Waugh is passionate about developing Yass Valley culture. He was a founding partner of the Sculptures in the Paddock and has painted murals throughout the town.
“We are all actively involved in the community from volunteer work to youth education, sporting clubs to regional arts and want to continue to see Yass Valley grow and prosper,” Rowena Abbey said.
“We are about getting the commitment for the Barton Highway from the government, which I have been strongly campaigning for over the past four years.
“We want to help cut through red tape by having a dedicated person to help people who want to start a new business or improve and expand a current one.
“We are going to deliver key projects that are important to our residents such as improve the roads, fix the water and ensure we have security for the future. This team knows how to make tough decisions, take action and get things done.”
