A man accused of leading police on a 65km chase in a stolen car last month has also been accused of breaking into a home and stealing $80,000 worth of items.

Timothy Michael Powell, 34, of Cassia Crescent, Queanbeyan, appeared in Goulburn Local Court via audio-visual link from jail on Wednesday. He has not entered a plea to nine charges.
He is charged with dishonestly obtaining property by deception; two counts of police pursuit not stop, second offence; stealing a motor vehicle; being carried in a stolen car without owner’s consent; receiving stolen property outside NSW; driving while disqualified, second offence; and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
On Wednesday, the court heard Powell had also been charged with breaking into a Queanbeyan house in his street between April 16 and 19, 2015 and stealing items with an estimated value of $80,000.
Police have accused Powell of stealing a Ford Falcon utility from the ACT on December 15, 2016 and driving it while disqualified. Officers also claimed he failed to pay for $83.88 worth of fuel at Tumut, then drove the car at speed and failed to stop when police pursued him over 65km from Gundagai to Bookham.
Powell and his co-accused, Menka Krsteska, 25, also of Queanbeyan, were taken to Yass Police Station and charged.
Magistrate Mark Douglass adjourned the case to Queanbeyan Local Court on February 7 but insisted it come back to Goulburn if Powell pleaded not guilty.
