The Buffaloes batted first, finishing their innings with a high total of 6/250, thanks largely to Dave Brown and Andrew Swaffield, who scored 100 and 72 runs, respectively. The pair combined for a 135-run partnership.
Brown, whose last big score was just four runs short of a century, managed to secure triple figures this time after being at the crease for most of the innings. Brown said he was glad to score a century this time.
We’ve got four wins on the trot now, so we’ve hit some good form at the right time.

“It was a pretty standard 100, even though it took a while. But I dug in and stayed till the end,” he said.
Brown praised his teammates for another strong win. “It’s definitely a team performance. Other batsmen stayed at the crease for a while. We’ve got four wins on the trot now, so we’ve hit some good form at the right time,” he said.
The Buffaloes’ total was aided by 28 extras. In reply, the Dingoes did well to avoid a loss of more than 100 runs, finishing at 10/159 in the 36th over. Swaffield backed up his batting with 3/31 from 8.0 overs to ensure the Buffaloes’ strong momentum heading into the semifinals starting on February 25.
Gunners clinch game by a wicket
The Gundaroo Gunners defeated the Yass Golf Club Snipers in the closest finish so far in the 2016–17 Triggs Shield season.
After round 13 was cancelled due to the heat, the Gunners and Yass Golf Club Snipers faced off at Victoria Park on Saturday, February 18 where the former won with one wicket and nine balls to spare.
The Snipers went into bat first, however, they could do little to resist the Gunners’ bowling onslaught with Mark Oliver picking up 4/13—the best figures for the weekend. He was assisted by Andrew Withers with 2/34 after 9.0 overs. The Snipers’ total of 134 was aided by the 17 extras.
In reply, the Gunners’ Chris Bale top scored with 33. Mark Oliver once again stepped into help with a solid 27. The Gunners lost only three wickets at 96 runs and were on target.
However, the Snipers secured three quick dismissals at the 100- and 116-run marks to provide a close finish. Middle-order batsman Sean Egan and tailender Harris steadied the ship in the end, chasing the 135 runs needed in the 44th over.
Gators too strong for Colts
Meanwhile, in the Sweeney Cup, the Yass Golf Club Colts’ poor season continues after a heavy six-wicket defeat to the Boorowa Gators at Murrumbateman Oval. The Colts were dismissed for 118 in 30.0 overs. In reply, it took only 23.0 overs for the Gators to chase the target, finishing at 4/122.
The Colts remain at the bottom of the ladder, having won only once. The Gators edged out the Crocs by three points to secure fourth.
