The Yass Magpies Rugby League held successful pre-season games on March 18 at Walker Park. The games were trials and matches to help raise funds for Eddie Bettay – a Queanbeyan Blues player – whose wife Samantha passed away recently after battling cancer.

Thanks to the generous spirit of the community and Nowra Jets (who contributed $200), the total amount raised was $701.10.
The Yass Magpies club is proud of the achievement and hopes the contributions provide some relief to this extraordinary family.
On the field, the Magpies’ first-grade side drew with Nowra Jets 28–28. Yass’s reserve grade secured victory, running away 46–10.
