The Merino Ewe Competition was held on Monday, February 20 and G. K and R. W Robertson of Tallawong, Merrignee and Yarrawonga blood took out the overall winner of the whole flock event.
Second place was Kingslea Partnership, Grogranworth blood and third was R. W and S. T Hyles, Yarrawonga blood.
In the selected team event sponsored by Gordon Litchfield Wool, Yass, the winner was again the Robertson family; second was the Hyles family and third Kingslea partnership, Caroline Spittle and Rosemary Mitchell.
The Bogo Merino Stud encouragement award went to B. M and B. Mackay with their superfine Merryville entry.
The November shorn team from Richard and Stephanie Hyles won the short wool section, sponsored by Grogansworth.
The Judges, Michael Corkhill and Ben Lane, created good discussion on sheep management and breeding and were impressed with the overall standard of the teams.
Following a very successful lice control presentation by Young and Yass LLS, the Bookham and Binalong groups have decided to form separate areas. David Sykes and George Elliott are the contacts for Binalong and the Bookham contacts are Tony Armour, David and Bruce Hazell, Kevin Rattigan, David Young and Peter Brunskill.
The Bookham Sheep Show and Country Fair will be held on Saturday April 22 at the Bookham Hall and Grounds with all the popular attractions. The next meeting of the Bookham Agricultural Bureau will be Tuesday March 28 at the Bookham Memorial Hall with the Yass Council Road Show commencing at 7.30pm. All welcome.
