Yass FM 100.3 has secured accreditation with the Southern Community Media Association (SCMA) – a non-profit national representative body for community broadcasters.

Yass FM president Jan Wilson said this is a positive. “We’re very thrilled with that, it’s a first for the station,” Ms Wilson said.
The accreditation comes at a time when the station’s numbers in voluntary presenters and membership are down compared with previous years.
“We’re mainly trying to build up membership numbers again. If we can increase that, it’d do us a world of good. As for presenters, we’re happy to talk to anyone interested,” Ms Wilson said.
The president pointed to the critical role of radio during emergencies, in which council recognised Yass FM with an excellence in communications award for previous bush fire coverage.
Similarly, presenter Johnny Goode said that “Yass FM is a good opportunity to be part of a friendly team up”.
Yass FM’s next outside broadcast will be at Yass Memorial Hall to cover ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
