Dressed in a pink wig and clothes, including a frilly tu-tu, Kevin ran among a crowd of more than 1000 participants in the 5km course to come in third for his age group (60-69 years). Since taking up running 5km only two years ago, Kevin has gone from strength to strength. His aim was to gain a top ten finish in the recent Canberra Times Fun Fun in early April but was pleasantly surprised to come in fourth in the over 60’s category. In the last few months, he has been placed third in Parkruns in Curl Curl, Sydney and Gunghalin.
Kevin has been suffering secondary cancer in his bones after the removal of his prostate nearly four years ago.
Although the nasty side effects of his treatments mean he is not the runner he was a few years ago, Kevin says that regular exercise is great for his mental and physical health.
