The event is being run by the Yass Valley Business Chamber, and President of the Chamber Michael Pilbrow believes that it will help to invigorate local businesses.
“People who own their own business work hard, start early, finish late, employ people, keep services operating and available for the community,” Pilbrow said.
“So that’s what we [the Chamber] want these Business Awards to be about, is rewarding and highlighting and recognising the great work that goes on in businesses across the whole Yass Valley.”
Any business or business owner in the Yass Valley region can be nominated for a local award.
There are five categories open to nominees of the Yass Valley Business awards:
- The Young Entrepreneur – open to those aged 18-35 who has built their own business.
- Business Leader – open to business people and professionals 36 and over who made a positive contribution to their business.
- Excellence in Social Enterprise – recognises businesses who have been established to further a social purpose in a financially sustainable way.
- Excellence in Small Business – recognises a business employing less than 20 that has attained significant growth.
- Employer of Choice – recognises organisations that put in place strategies and initiatives to create stimulating and supportive workplace environments for their employees.
Nominations close on the 5th of July, and the winners will be announced on the 27th of July.
