Relay for Life less than two weeks away

The event will be held on December 2–3 at the showground.

Registrations are still open online at relayforlife.org.au/yass or you can sign up on the day at the registration tent.

Residents are encouraged to kick off the festive season by coming along to this special Christmas-themed event.

Teams are encouraged to take turns walking the track at the showground for 24 hours.

While taking a break from walking, there will be a jam packed program of activities, performances and music to keep everyone entertained. 

Entertainment for the day will include displays from Yass Karate and Dazzle Dance Academy along with performances from Berinba School Choir and other local musicians.

There will be loads of Christmas themed activities for kids including Christmas crafts, scavenger hunt, jumping castle, picnic games, giant jenga, face painting and more.

Teams are also encouraged to perform their own Christmas Carol as part of  the “Christmas Caroloke” competition.

Kelly Dinnerville, Cancer Council NSW community relations coordinator, invites everyone to check out the festivities this year.

“If you haven’t signed up yet, you can still come along and register on the day or just turn up for an hour or so to see what it’s all about.

“We will have plenty happening over the weekend including our special Hope Ceremony at dusk along with a variety of activities and entertainment for the whole family,” Ms Dinnervile said.

Yass Relay For Life is put together by a committee of seven volunteers.

They have been working tirelessly over nine months to pull everything together and are super excited to see the event unfold.

All money raised from this event will go towards funding cancer support and prevention programs in the local area as well as funding world-class research that will improve treatment and support for cancer patients and their families in Yass and across Australia.
