With visitors’ help, Mollie and Tannin are hoping to give every dog and puppy at the RSPCA ACT a gift on Christmas day.
Jennifer Lawrence, event organiser at Murrumbateman Winery, said they expected to obtain a similar number of donated toys.
“We’re hoping to see lots of dogs and expecting similar amount of donated toys from last year – about 180.
“There are 80–100 dogs at the RSPCA during Christmas so we should have more then enough,” she said.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a dog toy to donate under the wishing bone for the cause.
Sure to be a howling good time, Mollie and Tannin are organising dog treats, a lucky dip and a special visit from Santa Paws.
In the afternoon they’ll escort their friends into the vines and for a dip in the dam – a more adventurous activity.
Ms Lawrence said they looked forward to having more runs in the vines.
“There’s also the swimming in the dam. As well, there’ll a lucky dip, dog toys and treats,” Ms Lawrence said.
For the human companions, there will be food platters and wine available.
Not only can they host a great party, these canines are the only dogs in Murrumbateman with their own wines:
- Mollie’s Block Fume Blanc – a dry style lightly oaked Sauvignon Blanc with tropic pineapple fruits.
- Tannin’s Wild Pinot Gris – an alternate style wild fermented Pinot Gris with delicious nashi pear fruit flavours.
Ms Lawrence said that they were expecting some rain, but they also have “a big indoor area”.
“It should be a light-hearted afternoon,” she said. Costumes are encouraged.
