To those I've already met, thank you for all the kind welcomes; and for those I've yet to meet, if you see me around come say hello.
My duties will be shared between Yass, and Gunning with the majority of my shifts being Gunning-centric over this initial period. Gunning Police Station is only staffed by myself and therefore is only open when I am physically in the station. If you need to speak to me, the Gunning Police Station phone number is 4845 1244.
If I'm not manning the station when you call, the phones will divert to Goulburn Police Station where they will take a message for me to call you back. If you need to report a crime, you can contact your local main station at Yass on 6226 9399 (call them if you can't reach me). Alternatively you can call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444. If you have an emergency, please dial 000.
I hope to see you about town in the future.
116th Gunning Show
Despite the hot weather and dry conditions, the Gunning Show was well attended with a large number of horse and dog registrations in addition to the alpacas and cattle on show.
The theme this year was “Emergency Services” with displays of emergency services and firefighting equipment.
It was a great show organised by the Gunning PA&I Committee supported by many volunteers who freely supplied their time and effort. Of course, the many sponsors made a great contribution and the list just seems to get longer every year.
There were new events to the attract the kids including the skateboard demonstrations and the climbing wall, along with favourites like face painting, the patting paddock and the reptile show with the snakes always a treat (hope they kept a count so none got left behind).
In Memory of Patrick
As a fitting tribute to recently deceased Gunning resident Patrick Smith, the Gunning Show Bar was named renamed “Paddy’s Bar” and marked with a commemorative plaque.
The plaque was unveiled last Saturday by Upper Lachlan Shire Mayor Brian McCormack officially cutting the ribbon with members of Patrick’s family in attendance.
