It follows the highly successful inaugural edition held last year.
The show, which will run at 10am–3pm, invites participants from as far as Sydney to come along, shine up their cars, and show them off for a day so that the locals can admire them.
But this year, there will be a new facet to the event which promises to add some creative flair to the show.
This year will see a Car Part Art competition added to the show, which will allow car aficionados the opportunity to flex their creative muscles and see what they can make out of car parts.
Organiser of the show, Donna Luff, is excited about the new addition and hopes that it will draw the interest of attendees who might otherwise not come to see the cars.
“It was just a different idea to get people there that don’t necessarily have a car or a bike to enter,” Ms Luff said.
“It’s trying to get more people involved and hopefully bring more families to the event if the kids want to enter any car part art that they’ve made as well.”
The reception from the public was extremely warm toward last year’s show, Ms Luff said.
“It was a lot better than what we expected it would ever be,” she said.
“Because of how successful it was, I think this year will be bigger and better.
“Also just knowing that it is solely a fundraising event where the money will stay local [will help].”
The event is Ms Luff’s personal initiative. She lost her sister to cancer a year and a half ago, and decided to combine her passion for cars with a desire to support people in her sister’s memory.
“That’s why I became involved, because she got assistance from CanAssist,” Ms Luff said.
“All of our family, we sort of became involved to give something back and to help CanAssist raise money for other people who need it.”
Ms Luff also expressed her gratitude to the local businesses who sponsored the event last year, and hopes that their patronage will continue for the 2018 edition.
Entry to the Yass Valley CanAssist Show and Shine is by gold coin donation, and all proceeds raised will be returned to the community and help local cancer sufferers cover the cost of treatment.
All vehicles cost $20 to enter, which is payable on the day.
