The Palace issued the statement the same day the Duke and Duchess touched down in Sydney for their Australian tour.
The post from Kensington Palace said the Duchess was expecting the baby in UK spring.
The royal couple’s visit to Dubbo on Wednesday will be one of their first engagements since the news was announced on Monday evening (AEDST).
The couple are due to fly into Dubbo on Wednesday morning before visiting a local farm, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, a local school and taking part in a picnic in the park, hosted by the mayor of Dubbo.
The announcement ends speculation the couple were expecting their first child, following news the Duchess would not be joining Prince Harry in Sydney when he climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Australian royal watchers will get their first glimpse of the baby bump when the Duke and Duchess attend their official welcome tomorrow morning at Admiralty House.
From there, it’s on to Taronga Zoo Sydney with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, two koalas and their joeys.
