In addition to being able to see either a male or female GP, you can make an appointment to see a dietitian, have an ultrasound performed (which can be bulk-billed for joint injections and aspiration), and gain access to other services like travel medicine, anything related to women’s health or children’s health including childhood vaccinations, as well as ECG, pathology, spirometry, matters related to Work Cover, medical assessments and more.
Helpfully, if you can’t get to them, they also offer home visits and they provide care to patients in the local nursing homes.

The practice is open six days a week, and in the past few months they have also welcomed three new doctors.
“We have brought on board Dr Lasantha Bodandarawe Gedara, Dr R M Kamal Rajapaksha and Dr Arshi Lakdawala,” says Yass Medical Centre senior administrator Isabel Conway.
Dr Kamal and Dr Lasantha – as they prefer to be called – also both have a background in emergency rooms, so Dr Kamal told us that if you have a non-life threatening emergency during their opening hours, they are quite comfortable with the idea of helping you on the spot rather than sending you to wait in an emergency room.
To give you an idea about their background and special interests:
Dr R M Kamal Rajapaksha, graduated from Sri Lanka. His special interest are general and elderly medicine, mental health, skin care, children and womens health. He also performs minor surgical procedures such as abscess drainage, skin lesion removal and wedge resection for ingrowing toe nails. Dr Kamal is available for appointment or walk ins.
Dr Arshi Lakdawala obtained her medical degree from Sardar Patel University, India. She has worked as a general practitioner in Victoria and Queensland, as well as nearby Boorowa prior to working at Yass. Her special interests are women’s health, children’s health, mental health, travel medicine and general medicine.
Dr Lasantha Bodandarawe Gedara has over 14 years of experience in medicine and surgery. He started as an emergency doctor in Campbelltown Hospital in south-west Sydney for three years, and has been working in Yass Medical Centre as a general practitioner for past three months. His special interests are in the fields of general medicine and elderly care as well as children and women’s health.
