The plan covers fire safety, wastewater management, water supply quality and on-site sewage management.
The park manager couldn’t be reached for comment.
Under the Local Government Act 1993, all caravan parks must have the ‘approval to operate’ from the council.
Hume Park lost its approval when council staff were unable to find proof of anyone looking after the day-to-day operations on-site or signs that asbestos found previously was being managed properly.
The council said it tried contacting the park’s management after the inspection in September, but didn’t hear back until November. At that time, the council assessed the appropriate action was not being taken to address issues.
The council leases the caravan park to JAGIM Developments Pty Ltd, which was given 28 days from November 28 to address the issues or the council would take over the management of the park.
The council’s director of planning, Chris Berry, said JAGIM’s solicitors were hoping to resolve the issues before further action was necessary.
