Yass Valley Council is offering locals the opportunity to host fundraising BBQs at the pool in January and will provide the BBQ, gas, gazebo and trestle tables.
Groups will just be responsible for providing the food, condiments and the volunteers to run the BBQ.
“Council has never done something like this, so we thought we would ‘test the market’ to see if there are community groups interested in raising money by holding a BBQ at the swimming pool,” said Yass Valley mayor Rowena Abbey.
“We have chosen January because of the warm weather, higher patronage of the pool and there being no organised sport that may clash.”
The cut-off date for community groups to apply is Wednesday, December 12. A roster of BBQ dates will be drawn up after this.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to give mum and dad a night off cooking and to come to the pool as a family to support a local community group,” said mayor Abbey.
Applications forms and additional information is available here.
On nights when a fundraising BBQ is being held, the pool will remain open until 8.30pm.
