The project will begin in July, when LLS will put out an expression of interest to land owners in Boorowa, the Upper Lachlan Shire and Yass Valley, to fence off existing Box Gum Grassy Woodland and plant new Box Gums and wattles, Local Land Services senior natural resource management advisor, Melissa Henry said.
Around 95 per cent of White Box, Yellow Box and Blakely's Red Gums have been cleared for agricultural production in the local government areas, Ms Henry said.
The project aims to enhance 260 hectares of the endangered species, which are major nesting areas and food sources for birds.
"We are grateful for this additional funding. It will allow us to work with more land managers in protecting the natural assets on their farms and preserving vital habitat for key species like the superb parrot," Ms Henry said.
Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward and Liberal candidate for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman announced the funding Friday.
