Team coach Craig Barrett praised the boys for their performance, which saw the team progress into final two of the Zone South Coast competition.

"I thought we did well," Barrett said.

"We do have a strong team. We've got three players playing Premier League [in Canberra].

"So we have got the talent there, and because weve had this team together for a few years, I half-expected to do well [this season]."

The team have played four rounds so far in the season, and their latest win against Narooma was particularly stirring for the coach as they fell to a deficit at half time.

"We were down 1-0 at half time, and we scored two in the second half," Barrett said.

"We were creating opportunities in the first half, but unfortunately the ball just wasn't falling exactly where we'd like it to go.

"But the boys kept their heads up, and we got through against Narooma, who had some good players."

With Monday's win, Yass will now go on to face Bomaderry High School on Friday May 31.

Barrett expects Yass to be underdogs going into their next game, but he believes that the difference between the two sides is only slight.

"I know in their semi-final, they beat Mulwaree 5-1, so obviously they've got quite a good attacking team," Barrett said.

"Looking at the results from the other games and who we've played in the past, I think it's quite an even game.

"They're probably slight favourites, but I think having a home game evens that out."

Ahead of that match, there is one area of improvement which Barrett will continue to address with the Yass side.

"Probably the biggest thing is just crucial passes," Barrett said.

"We're doing good buildup in our work, but those one-two passes are just going astray after a good buildup.

"Weight of passing, our through-balls have gotten a bit heavy lately."

A win over the Bomaderry side will see Yass among the top teams in the state in its age group.
