Yass High School's Year 10 Community Class students were baking cakes and brownies for days to make sure there was something delicious for everyone to tuck into, with all of the money raised going to Cancer Council.
The initial count would likely double by the end of the event at 12.30pm, with dozens of tea and cake lovers pouring into Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall to support the cause.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is held every year and is an opportunity for friends, family and workmates to come together, share a cuppa, some delicious food, and help those affected by cancer.
The Yass Hospital Auxiliary ladies' popular scones and sandwiches were also drawing a crowd, of all ages. Even two-year-old Ada Good was spotted tucking into a chocolate muffin.
An older resident, Les Gray, attends the event every year.
"It's good to raise money for Cancer Council. Everyone you speak to knows someone affected by cancer," he said.
The local event is organised by Yass Valley Council and is also a chance for people in the community to meet new faces.
Steve Beebe was visiting his son at Binalong and decided to pop in when he noticed the sign for the morning tea. He was enjoying a chat and a cuppa with councillor Mike Reid.
"It's good to meet new people," he said.
