From a new walking and cycling path in Binalong to a safer playground in Gundaroo and even a historical monument in Yass, these projects could get between $20,000 and $200,000 with your help.
My Community Project invites locals to put forward an idea to the government to benefit their community. Members of the community then get a chance to pick their preferred projects.
Those proposed for the Yass Valley include:
- Time Line Stones, Yass: Fifty sculpted headstones, foundation stones and milestones connected by an engraved timeline recording local events from Aboriginal times to today in Alf Fletcher Park (estimated cost: $99,220).
- Outdoor playground, Binalong: An outdoor playground area for Binalong P&C Playgroup children and families to use at Binalong Public School ($20,000).
- Walking and cycle path, Binalong: To complete the final piece of walking and cycle path on Queen Street to connect to Fitzroy Street ($43,062).
- Tennis court resurface, Binalong: To provide a new surface on the tennis court in Binalong to provide a fun environment for the community ($85,000).
- Tennis club lighting upgrade, Murrumbateman: The Murrumbateman Tennis Club is seeking to purchase and install new lighting for the three courts at Murrumbateman Recreation Grounds ($80,000).
- Playground shade and sustainable power: To create a shaded area in Gundaroo Park playground that incorporates solar panels and battery storage to enhance year-round usage for community groups ($50,000).
Voting opened on July 15 and is just days away from closing.
