The money and goods were to pay off a debt owed by her ex-boyfriend in prison.

Rhiannon Sutherland, aged 32, pleaded guilty to demanding property with the intention to steal and stalking/intimidating with the intention to cause fear of physical or mental harm when she appeared in Yass Local Court on Friday, August 16.

According to police facts, on the night of June 8, 2018 Sutherland travelled with two others to a house in Yass where one of her ex-boyfriends lived.

Sutherland and her ex had bought camping equipment together but split the belongings when the relationship ended in 2012.

When Sutherland's ex said he didn't owe her anything, the other two said they could seriously hurt him and implied burning down his house.

"We want something and we can seriously hurt you if we want to right now," they said.

"It's a nice house. It would be a shame to see it go up."

In court, Sutherland's solicitor said she had been threatened with a gun at her ACT home to find money owing to her ex-boyfriend in prison.

The solicitor said that while Sutherland led the other two to the Yass address, she "certainly wasn't calling the shots".

However, the police prosecutor said Sutherland should have gone to the police.

"The victim was at home with his wife and children," the police prosecutor said, adding that a message needed to be sent that these types of offences would not be accepted by the Yass community.

Magistrate Geraldine Beattie agreed.

"[These people] should be allowed to feel safe," she said.

"They wouldn't have gone there if you hadn't tipped them off.

"What you've done is spread what you're caught up in to other people.

"This is not a society where people can turn up at peoples' homes and demand things."

Sutherland is appealing her sentence of two years in prison with a non-parole period of 12 months.
