The Murrumbateman Eagles feel season one is a success

Eagles coach Andy Ingold was pleased with the effort shown by his team all season and praised his side's spirit.

"For our first year in the competition, it was very successful," Ingold said.

"We were competitive in the majority of our games.

"We managed to get three wins throughout the year and weren't embarrassed at all in any of our games."

The three games they won were against the Goulburn Swans in round six and 11 and the Yass Kangaroos in round 13.

With their inaugural season under their belt, Ingold said his side's biggest strength was the camaraderie in the squad.

"Their willingness to go in for each other and their teamwork stood out," he said.

"Getting to know one another was the biggest thing this year.

"They were really starting to gel at the back end of the year.

"Hopefully they can take that into next year as well."

Two moments from this season stood out for Ingold.

"The first one was running out and seeing the side go out onto the ground for the first time ever," he said.

"The second was singing the team song for the first time in Goulburn when we won our first game.

"Being with the guys and singing that song was a historical moment."

With the season done and dusted, the Eagles will be looking for ways to improve heading into their second year of competition.

"There are a few players as well that haven't been around football for years," Ingold said.

"Fitness will be a big key for them in the off season."

The Cootamundra Blues are through to the grand final after beating the Southern Cats convincingly and will take on the winner between the Cats and the Belconnen Magpies.

Ingold expects the Blues to win the competition, but said it wouldn't be easy.

"Cootamundra has been the bench mark all year," he said.

"It will be interesting to see who wins this weekend between Belconnen and Cooma.

"It depends on who Belconnen can field.

"If they can play some of their higher division in the grand final, should they make it through, it will be interesting, but I think Cootamundra will win.

"I don't think it will be an easy feat for them, but they've gone through the season undefeated and have got to be the favourites."

The Murrumbateman Eagles finished fifth on the ladder with three wins and 12 losses.
