It took everything they had, and then a little bit more, but the Dalton Dingos became the first team to defeat the Yass Golf Club Cobras on Saturday.

After Dalton's opening batsman, Neil Corby, was forced to retire hurt with a hamstring injury early in his innings, the Dingos struggled.
Jayden Smith (18) was their only other batsman to reach double figures, and it soon looked as though they were going to be rolled for less than 100 at Victoria Park.
But Corby, cajoled by his captain, Mick Poidevin, agreed to return after the ninth wicket fell and swing for the fences.
"We convinced him to go out and have a swing, and he got another 20," Poidevin said.
While they did not know it at the time, those extra runs would make all the difference.
At the change of innings, having compiled 116, Poidevin was confident.
"We felt that we had enough to protect if we could get a couple of early wickets," he said.
"We had enough confidence in our bowling attack to think that was enough."
The Cobras, with their excess of experienced players, refused to roll over. They struggled, in much the same way Dalton did, to build their innings, but the match still came down to the wire.
At the start of the 34th over, the Cobras needed 10 runs to win with one wicket in tact.
"It was very intense, but in our favour," Poidevin said.
"We didn't know it was as tight as it was, I thought we had 10 or 15 [extra] runs up our sleeve."
The over, bowled by Troy Pye, began with a wide. He then went for a two, and a four, to leave the home team needing three to win.
And then, on the last ball of the over, the wicket fell.
The win, Poidevin said, was a testament to the team's nothing-to-lose attitude.
"We went into thinking that we've got nothing to lose, so we were keen to give it a good crack and be the first ones to roll them," he said.
"I think they took us a bit lightly, thinking they had us covered. They would say they were under strength, but so were we."
This weekend, the Dingos will look to continue their good form against the Gundaroo Goats.
"We did have some confidence, and now we've got quite a few out again," Poidevin said.
"We'll see what we come up with but it's always been a grudge match for us."
The Dalton Dingos take on the Gundaroo Goats this Saturday, November 16, at Dalton Oval from 12.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Cobras will look to rebound against the Boorowa Crocs at Boorowa Sports Ground, and the Yass Bowling Club Pirates will play the Bowning Buffaloes at Victoria Park.
Meanwhile, in C Grade, the Harden Hornets will play the Clubhouse Horns at Tim Doolan Oval, the Yass Golf Club Taipans take on the Boorowa Gators at O'Connor Park, and the Binalong Bushrangers face off against the Bookham Bulls at Binalong Recreation Ground.
