Constable Natalie Booth officially started on Monday, December 16 and has been busy making the rounds introducing herself to the locals.
Living at the police station house, Constable Booth will also look after Bookham, Lake Burrinjuck and surrounds.
She said helping the community was her priority and that she had received a warm welcome.
"It's been amazing arriving. Everyone is just so excited to have someone at the station," Constable Booth said.
It has been two years since an officer in charge was based at Binalong Police Station. In the interim, officers at Yass Police Station have taken care of the area.
Officer in Charge at Yass Police Station, Inspector Matthew Hinton, said the community had "yearned for an officer in charge back in the area."
"For Natalie to engage with the community and her plans to link in with the schools are big things for us," Inspector Hinton said.
Constable Booth was a general duties officer in Castle Hill, Sydney for four years.
It was her first job in the NSW Police Force after graduating from the Police Force Academy in Goulburn in 2015.
Constable Booth was also a youth liaison officer while based in the Hills Police Area Command and was nominated for the Customer Service Excellence Award in the 2019 Rotary Police Officer of the Year Awards.
It was always her goal to be in the police force, Constable Booth said.
She ran businesses in the hospitality sector while gaining more life experience and confidence before joining.
