Following advice from Netball NSW, the YNA with postpone all local and representative games and training for the foreseeable future due to the current COVID-19 pandemic which is spreading across the country.

A statement from Netball NSW, released on March 23, said "there is absolutely nothing more important than the health and well-being of our netball family.

"Please do everything that you can to look after yourselves and each other, and to help slow the spread of COVID-19 across our wider community by following the social distancing advice, travel restrictions, hygiene practices and other measures in place."

This was another in a long list of state and national sporting organisations to delay the start of the 2020 winter season.

On its Facebook page, the YNA expressed regret about the suspension of the season, and implored its members to be understanding in a trying time.

"This is an unfortunate disruption to the netball season for all in NSW," the association said.

"Please be patient with us and each other while we all work through this together."

Netball NSW has promised to deliver an update about the situation on April 15, and, in the meantime, called for unity among its stakeholders.

"This is a time for us all to work together to sustain our sport as best we can, and Netball NSW will continue to do everything we can to support netball across New South Wales at all levels," the organisation said.

"Your continued support will also be vital as we rise to meet the challenges that lay ahead, and we thank you.

"Netballers are a great team who band together when things get tough. Be assured that Netball NSW will continue to act promptly and decisively to achieve the best outcome that we can for our netball community in these challenging times."

There are, as of 6am on March 24, 818 confirmed cases of coronavirus in NSW, and 32 in the ACT. This makes up nearly half of the 1823 cases nationwide.
