
Yass Valley Council has decided to close the library and pool today in view of new restrictions due to coronavirus pandemic.
The library will close to the public at 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 25 instead of Friday, March 27 as was earlier decided.
"This time period will help allow our staff to transition to a new, innovative way of keeping the service available to the community. More details to come soon," a council spokesperson said.
The Murrumbateman library is now closed but still accepting returns, and the mobile library is not operating until further notice.
Yass and Binalong pools will also close at 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30pm instead of Friday, March 27.
These new restrictions were announced by the government on Tuesday, 24 March.
Meanwhile, Yass Valley Council is likely to will stop cash transactions next week in response to this rapidly escalating health crisis.
"We ask that all members of our community assist us in minimising the risk of infection by conducting their business online or by card if attending council offices," the spokesperson said.
The council has cancelled all community roadshows scheduled for April and May and will deliver the 2020-21 operational plan in an online format.
