An innovative 'Click & Collect' service is spearheading a new range of Yass Valley Council initiatives to keep the community spirit alive during the COVID-19 crisis whilst continuing to ensure we adhere to Government restrictions.

"Library members could reserve books, DVDs and other items online or via emailing or phoning the Yass Valley Library, then pick up their items at designated times," Yass Valley Council general manager, Chris Berry said.
"The new format is a takeaway style service designed to maintain social distancing and avoid people congregating.
"The library staff will process the orders, notify patrons when their reserves are ready and issue items from the front of the library at designated times.
"With so many people now staying at home, there is a need for books and other materials to keep kids and adults entertained, educated and enriched."
Initially, the collection part of the service will run from 10am -1pm Tuesday to Thursday from a designated area outside the Yass Valley library.
Strict measures will be in place at the collection location to maintain social distancing and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and all borrowers will receive prior instructions regarding the collection process.
"We will monitor the service constantly to ensure it is managed safely, effectively and in line with government health recommendations," Mr Berry said.
People who are unable to use the Click & Collect service due to no computer/internet access or who require assistance with reserving items, can contact the Yass Valley Library on 6226 1305 and the staff will be able to assist.
"All Click & Collect items will initially have a six-week loan period," Mr Berry said.
"However, all current and future loans will be extended for the foreseeable future while there is a recommendation from the Government for people to stay at home."
