It's fantastic to have some rain before things get to cold in our district.
As you all can probably see, this rain has helped many weeds grow extremely fast and they're spreading rapidly.
NSW Farmers, Yass Council and Local Land Services are continuing to work together to establish better management of the weeds in our district.
In the last few months NSW Farmers Yass branch, LLS and Yass Council have put a huge effort to improve and increase the weed management activities of the council by employing a new biosecurity support officer.
This role involves pulling together the Weeds Focus Group terms of reference, working with other South East regional councils via committee members, planning the next four months of community and extension work and developing a program of events to educate and support local weed activities undertaken by the council.
LLS has been a significant contribution to helping to get this progressing through providing some WAP grant funds to support these activities.
The South East Regional Weeds Committee prides itself in working collaboratively across the region and welcomes the efforts Yass Valley Council have put in to improve the weed management in its important role within the Biosecurity Act 2015.
