Carolina Merriman, chair of the NSW Farmers Yass branch, wants more rural women to be leaders.
"I want to inspire and encourage more rural women to take on leadership roles," she said.
"Being a woman in the rural industry, there are many challenges. I have been lucky and grateful that the community around me has been so supportive that it has allowed me to achieve many things.
"There are challenges out there, specially being a young woman but I have the support behind me that helps me keep moving forward, to stand up and be a leader."
Ms Merriman was elected as the first female chair of the NSW Farmers Yass branch in 2019 and calls her journey so far as "incredible."
"It's amazing what you can achieve being a part of NSW farmers how in such a short span of time," she said.

She had replaced long-standing chair Ed Story who stepped down to focus on the role of president of Wool Producers Australia.
Ms Merriman has been nominated for the TransGrid Leadership Award.
"I feel privileged and honoured to have been nominated for the award. I have always been passionate about helping farmers and the community and will continue to be involved in projects that help them," she said

"A leader should have a passion for what they are doing, work hard like everyone else, and support and motivate others to do their best."
Stressing on the importance of mental health, she said that it's important to regularly ask our friends and family if they are okay.
She is an active voice and support for the farmers and communities to the local council.
The Award Australia's NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards began in 2002.
The awards aim to recognise the contributions of individuals, communities, and businesses in regional NSW and ACT.
Finalists will be presented and winners announced at an awards gala presentation dinner on Friday, November 20, 2020.
