
The Game of the Year 2024 has been crowned in a glittering night that featured a special appearance by Hollywood icon Harrison Ford.

Astro Bot took home the top prize at the Video Game Awards (VGAs) for Game of the Year, a platformer made by Team Asobi, which celebrated 30 years of the PlayStation brand's history and three other awards, the most of any game on the night.
The nominees for Game of the Year included Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Metaphor: ReFantazio and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
The Video Game Awards celebrated its 10th anniversary with the show and featured a massive list of new games and celebrities.
Ford appeared on the heels of the newly released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to help present Best Performance in a Game, won by Melina Jurgens for her performance in Senua's Saga: Hellblade II.
Celebrity guests included Ella Purnell, who appeared in two gaming adaptations in 2024, Arcane and Fallout, which won for Best Adaptation, and Statler and Waldorf from the Muppets to grill host Geoff Keighley and Aaron Paul.
Snoop Dogg gave out the award for Best Ongoing Game and performed for the show later in the night, having appeared in Fortnite in November.
The VGAs also featured a host of new game announcements and trailers, including the first look at gameplay for Borderlands 4 and The Outer Worlds 2.
Big reveals this year included brand new announcements of a new game in The Witcher series, a sequel to previous Game of the Year winner Elden Ring Nightreign and the brand new game from The Last of Us developer Intergalactic: The Heretic Profit.
Grand Theft Auto VI won the Game Award for Most Anticipated Game.
