Welcome to the launch edition of Eat Play Stay: Central West, covering the localities and surrounds of Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo and Oberon.

Winter and beyond are wonderful times to visit these regions. The crisp days have set in with a refreshing chill in the air and even snow.

Within these pages, you'll find inspiration to make the most of your stay in this unique region. There is so much to explore, you might just have to come back.

In Orange, we've of course highlighted some of the top wineries to visit during your stay and an interactive graphic to help you decide what to do, no matter the weather or your mood.

Meanwhile, in Bathurst, we cover the vibrant farmers market scene throughout the whole Central West and a look at the independent brewing scene. There's also some great ideas for a day out at nearby Lithgow and an exploration of the history of Portland.

We couldn't go without mentioning the zoo in Dubbo, but we've also scouted a number of teenager-approved activities in the area, plus there's advice on how to make the most of stargazing on a clear night.

Over in Oberon, there's details on how to make the most of seeing water - whether it's frozen or falling.

As per our other regional editions of Eat Play Stay, we bring you our staff recommendations for each area and hope you'll find somewhere to explore over the next few months.

Happy reading and safe travels,

From the Eat Play Stay team.
