Happy Australia Day everyone, we are still the lucky country, so make the most of this special day by saying G'day to everyone you meet, no matter their colour, race or creed! Happy birthday to Anne Stabler, 22 again Anne? I know you had a big celebration last year! Congratulations Annie and Tony Bermingham of Tomakin - 47 long years of wedded bliss, is a miracle, sorry, I mean wonderful! That funny gal about town, Kathy Muir is in Canberra hospital having her elbow mended. Kathy broke her elbow in two places last week, after tripping whilst doing her brochure delivery around the streets of Tomakin. I asked her how she was distracted, she said she wasn't but five men rushed to her rescue, so I'm thinking otherwise! Get well soon Kathy. The Eurobodalla Agricultural Show is on this weekend so support your local country show. Cakes, jams, vegetables, photography, poultry, handicrafts, quilting, sideshow alley and lots of ring events. There is something for everyone including home brewing and wine making, alpacas, woodwork, metalwork, flowers, fruit, oysters - have I missed anything? Oh yes, whip cracking and a pet show. There is also a special guest, so be sure to take the whole family for a great day out! A strikeforce team of about 18 of our best RFS members from Bega and the Eurobodalla has headed north to help out in the bushfires in the Armidale area. We wish them a safe trip and a speedy return. Five trucks with crews went to a Nerriga fire last week also. Thank you everyone at the RFS for continuing to do such an excellent job for your community! Back to school on Monday so watch the 40kmh speed areas, we have had six weeks of not having to be aware of the speed limit, so stay alert everyone and keep our children safe. Good luck  to all the new children starting school on Tuesday, is that a loud sigh and a loud phew I can hear from mums in the Eurobodalla? Happy Birthday to Kim Bingley who celebrated her 60th with a big bash at 'The Panhandle' at Broulee last Saturday. Approximately 100 guests came from all around the shire plus interstate, including Darwin. Kim's hunky husband Harold was in charge of a roast piglet on the spit and her three beautiful daughters, Nicole, Renae and Rebecca were dispensing food and the birthday cake - a chocolate mud cake decorated with roses and hearts. Here's to another 60 years Kim! Happy birthday to David Finn MacCoul who I believe is turning a number way over 60! Mrs. Farrington-Smyth is spending Australia Day sunbaking on the beach at Lilli Pilli. She has a new bikini featuring the Australian Flag and she is displaying the stars of the states in two very prominent positions. The Union Jack will never look this good again!
