A ROCK fisherman has been rescued thanks to the observant eye of some passing boaties. A 62-year-old man was fishing at Catherine Hill Bay when he fell on rocks and sustained lower leg fractures. The incident happened early on Tuesday and a passing boat raised the alarm when they noticed the man waving to them for help. With the assistance of police, Fire and Rescue and paramedics, the the Westpac Rescue Helicopter managed to reach the fisherman. The helicopter's critical care medical crew treated him at the scene before he was transported to John Hunter Hospital.
