The car, which has spent the last few weeks being constructed by a team of Yass locals, started in position 17 and made it to 12 before a crash relegated them to the back of the pack.
Scorgie was relieved, however, to find that the only damage was a broken shock absorber, and he was then able to continue the race without any further incident until the event was called off by rain.
The event was the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship NSW Round 10, which saw some of the best drivers in NSW take on interstate challengers.
Scorgie made it through the qualifying rounds on Friday night without any trouble, to ease himself into the championship round on Saturday night which was then marred by inclement weather.
