Redbacks kick off season with mixed bag of results

The Yass Redbacks competed in their first official round of soccer for the 2018 season, and it was a mixed bag of results for all divisions.

Thankfully, the season was welcomed with some warm weather and ideal conditions in which to begin another rollicking season of local soccer.

The Men’s Third Grade played against Burns F.C. at Walker Park, and managed to scrap for a 3-3 draw.

The Men’s Seventh Grade were unable to hold off Woden Valley, and sunk to a 4-2 defeat in Canberra.

The Men’s Eighth Grade showed some fight, and managed to produce a draw in a high-scoring contest against Tuggeranong which finished at 5-5.

In the women’s soccer, the Redbacks State League 5 team were utterly dominant, and came away winners over Narrabundah 9-0. Victoria Alley was named the players’ player for her three goals.
