The new concrete access paths and veranda landings got a heavy workout and plenty of positive feedback over the weekend, and it’s only fair that BMW Concreting from Yass get special mention for their quality work at the club.
Not only did they finish the work to a high standard in a timely fashion, they also donated a large fill-in section of concrete to the club free of charge.
Following the installation of the paths, bright and sunny conditions overhead and a rather chilly breeze greeted 38 shooters on Sunday, and the last thing on everyone’s mind was the total fire ban which had been in place the day before.
It was great to see so many friendly faces in attendance with the main aim of the day to raise some coin for the Yass Valley branch of Can Assist.
The shoot proceeded smoothly, and Wilo Cameron was the standout and overall winner with a score of 291/300, and he earned a green sash for his efforts.
It was particularly pleasing to present Geoff Frost of Can Assist with a cheque to the value of $800.00.
As Geoff mentioned on the day, the money will go to assist numerous families and individuals within the Yass Valley who are currently undertaking treatment for cancer.
The YCTC committee and all members would like to once again thank our sponsors for the day, namely John Fleming from FPV Australia and long-time club member Ian Crisp for their efforts in making the day happen.
John kindly donated all the grade sashes as well as ammunition for prizes and raffles and Ian kindly sponsored the sash for the Overall winner.
It is the generous support of sponsors like John and Ian that make charity events like this such a success, that in turn help so many in our community.
If you know someone who is currently undertaking treatment for cancer and you feel they may need a little assistance for whatever reason, please invite them to make contact with Can Assist without delay.
Following the success of the YCTC’s fundraiser, Frost and his committee hosted a highly successful Bowning Hill Walk last Sunday to raise additional funds for Can Assist.
