Over the past two weekends, the Yass Amateur Swimming Club has participated in two regional swimming carnivals and have had some great success.

On Saturday January 26 and Sunday January 27, the club had seven participants travel to Wagga Wagga to race in the 2019 NSW Country Regional Meet.
The swimmers enjoyed some great results as Tahlia Wullaert walked away with four gold medals, one silver and a bronze, while Lara McClelland finished two gold and a silver.
The rest of the Yass team, consisting of Lucy McClelland, Chelsea Shannon, Felicity Shannon, Bronte Anderson and Patrick Koen swam some great personal best times and had lots of top ten finishes and a few unlucky fourth places just out of the medals.
The Yass female team finished eighth out of 30 teams in total on the overall female point score for the meet.
On Sunday February 3, nine members of the Yass Amateur Swimming Club traveled to Junee Pool to compete in the NSW Speedo Sprint Heats. The Speedo Sprint Heats are held throughout NSW and the top four swimmers across the four 50 metre events within each region qualify to swim at the finals in Homebush on March 9.
The Yass swim team achieved some outstanding results with seven out of the nine swimmers qualifying to swim at Homebush. Some results are listed below:
Tahlia Wullaert – five gold medals in the 10 years 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.
Liana Deery – Bronze in the 10 years 50 freestyle, second in the 50 butterfly, third in the 100 metre freestyle and fourth place in the breaststroke and backstroke.
Lara McClelland – Gold in the Under 10s 100metre freestyle, silver in the 50m freestyle and backstroke and top ten finishes in all of her other events.
Felicity Shannon – Silver in the 11 years 50 and 100 metre freestyle events, fourth in the 50 metre backstroke and some other top ten finishes.
Bronte Anderson – silver in the 13 years 50 metre Breaststroke and top ten finishes in all of her other events.
Riley Gibbs – fourth in both the 12 years boys 50 metre butterfly and backstroke, fifth in breaststroke and ninth in Freestyle.
Mia Gibbs –first in the Under 8s 25 metre Butterfly, third in the 50 metre breaststroke and sixth in the backstroke and freestyle.
Lucy McClelland and Chelsea Shannon also recorded some personal best times and placed in the top ten across multiple events and were unlucky to mis out on the team to travel to Sydney. The Yass female team managed to place fourth out of 13 teams on the overall point score at this event.
