The game didn't start that way though, with a slow beginning and a defensive mistake putting pressure on the team.
However, they recovered quickly and then for most of the first half, spent much of the time in the Lanyon half.
There were a number of half chances on goal and it was beginning to look like a day that the ball just might not go in.
Then, after some good build up work, Jacinta Murphy scored and 10 minutes later, Victoria Alley.
It remained 2-0 until half time, but you could see Lanyon were getting frustrated by the dominant play by Yass.
They began to get physical and tried to intimidate the Redbacks players.
The second half began with more of the same from Yass, having numerous shots on goal.
However, Lanyon came close when a long range shot came off the crossbar.
Then, in the space of two minutes, Alley scored two goals to make it a hat trick for her.
That put the game beyond reach for Lanyon.
It was only a momentary defensive lapse with 20 minutes to go that saw Lanyon score.
Each player contributed to an excellent team win.
- Cynthia Crisp
"It was a great effort from the team with good passing and calmness when under pressure," Redbacks player Cynthia Crisp said.
"Each player contributed to an excellent team win."
The Players Player was awarded to Amy, who yet again, was reliable in defense, read the game with precision and often quickly squashed any opposition attacks.
It was also Alley's 250th game for the club.
