The 19-year-old recently returned from a trip to Homa Bay on the western edge of the country.
She and four others were helping the Building Heaven on Earth ministry.
They included pastors Gary and Ruth Jones of Eagles Nest Church in Yass and two females Ms Hickey works with at Mountain Trails Adventure School in Wee Jasper.
The group worked in medical camps to provide healthcare to the Luo tribe.
"Gary Jones is also a doctor and worked with a few local doctors from Kenya in the camp," Ms Hickey said.
The group ran five medical camps, helping more than 700 people in the single trip.
"Medical services aren't really available in Kenya. A lot of places are remote and not easily accessible, and what is available isn't very affordable," Ms Hickey said.
"In the medical camps, people could go and see a doctor and get medicine from the pharmacy for free.
"I was talking to one of the pastors while I was there and they said the mission gives local people hope. That was really beautiful to see."
They also devoted time to women's ministry, pastoral training and interacting with the local children.
Some of the local children were living in orphanages or homes as they call them in Kenya, Ms Hickey explained.
Ms Hickey is now back working at Mountain Trails but is eager to join future missions to Kenya.
She particularly wants to help children in homes.
"I'd like to work towards raising funds back here in Australia to build a new home for the children and things like school fees, clothing and food, basic human needs," she said.
Ms Hickey hopes to travel to Kenya every six months, once a year with Gary Jones' mission and a second time with a team of her own.
Ms Hickey's recent trip was funded by donations from Yass Baptist Church, family members and the local community.
She also raised $1900 via a Go Fund Me Page, which covered vaccinations, visas and passports.
Extra donations took the total to $3600.
Ms Hickey's uncle Darryl Hickey, grandmother Jean Wilson and former Year 4 to 5 teacher all made generous donations.
She was left with $500 and donated it to the Building Heaven on Earth ministry. The money will cover school fees for those living in orphanages in Kenya.
